Understanding Change (Change Management 1)
This is the first course in the change management section, and is
based in the understanding of change within an organisation. Whether
we like it or not, we, and the organisations we work for are involved
in some degree of change every year. This leads to more and more of
our time being taken up preparing for and making changes. All too
often, there are so many changes that you rarely get time to reflect.
These courses are designed to stand back and consider change and its
implications for you the manager.
This first session will help you recognise when change needs to be
promoted in your organisation, or in the parts for which you are
involved and what this will require. It will encourage you to reflect
on your attitudes and assumptions about change, as these will affect
how you approach change projects.
We will also provide you with some simple tools for thinking about and
preparing for any change project.
The following list gives a brief look at some of the subjects covered:
- Attitudes towards change
- Defining the opportunity/problem
- Assessing the prospects
- To change or not to change
- The change process- a three-phase model
|
People attitudes towards change can be shaped by a variety of
factors, this course sets out to identify those factors, and use the
findings to assist in the transition periods change brings. We
identify how the prospects for change should be assessed, and look at
exactly what the change process involves for managers and employees
throughout the organisation.
Managers will leave this course with an understanding of how to use
their management and leadership skills before, during and after the
change process, while demonstrating new skills in monitoring and
evaluating, communication and containing feelings of staff around
them.
